Romantic Regency in Greece
The Story: Fans of Netflix’s Bridgeton will know that we are only a couple of months away from the much awaited launch of Season 2. What better way to build anticipation for the gorgeous attire, social soirees and intimate moments that will hit our screens in March than with a styled shoot inspired by the Regency era. The concept behind this shoot was to bring the decadence and regal charm of this series outdoors, creating an inspirational alfresco for future brides.
The Location: Greece holds an undeniable allure for lovers of the sea and sun. Nowhere does the sea feel more inviting than on the powdered sands of the Mango Beach Bar at Kanali Beach in the Preveza region of Greece. It is one of the largest beach venues in the area and an ideal place to get married in the sand.
The Vibe: Soft and sensual seaside romance with hints of a bygone era. This celebration takes place under a beachside pavilion adorned by chandeliers and candlesticks. Surrounded by a rainbow of pastels, the guests enjoy old world delights such as currants, figs, jams and cheese.
The Details: Wedgwood Blue is synonymous with fine English porcelain and is a nod to the luxury and standing held by the Bridgertons. This symbolic colour served as the palette’s base, balanced against warm creams, powdery pinks and wispy greens. The stunning florals featured a plethora of delicate blooms including Bengal roses, lisianthus, wisteria, hyacinths and dahlias. The tablescape used dyed muslin, a type of cloth introduced in the 19th century. Romantic and refined florals were combined with organic-themed appliqués for the bride’s attire. Natural, fresh-faced and elegant makeup gave our bride fresh, dewy skin and naturally beautiful, minimalistic makeup with brows brushed upwards.
Tips & Highlights:
- As Regency women knew how to pay attention to their lips, a soft shimmery lip-balm is a great way to achieve a healthy bridal pout instead of the more traditional lipstick look.
- Drawing from the show’s elaborate headpieces, Anna Tsadima used bejeweled high-shine hair accessories to complement the bridal dos. Many hairstyles from the Regency period were rooted in Ancient Greece making a soft plait half up half down style on point.
- Manousenia Design and Narcissus Fine Art created romantic watercolour calligraphy suites, signage and guest gifts using printed silk neckerchiefs, botanical offerings, English tea, caviar, and truffles on delicate serving dishes.
