Rustic Chic Chianti Wedding – Chantal & Mark
Chianti is one of the most beautiful areas in Italy’s Tuscany region. Characterised by romanesque churches and fortified medieval castles, Chianti is a famous wine district and is the home of eight wine varietals best known for the grape that becomes Chianti Classico DOCG.
Chantal and Mark had such fond memories of their last vacation in Italy, which involved exploring the streets of Florence, visiting museums, climbing the Duomo and eating pasta and pizza with gorgeous local wines. When it came to choosing a destination for their wedding, Tuscany was an obvious choice. When asked why those chose to get married in Italy, Chantal and Mark’s response was, “Well, who wouldn’t love to get married in the most romantic place on earth with exquisite food and wine?”. We get it.
Their Dream Venue & An Aperitivo
The couple found their dream wedding venue, Villa Mangiacane, in the heart of the Chianti wine region. The estate has 600 acres of flourishing vineyards and olive groves, built in the 15th century with parts designed by the great master, Michelangelo. Located just 12km South of Florence, it was also extremely accessible for those guests flying in from around the world to attend this destination wedding.
Wedding planners, The Tuscan Wedding organised a fabulous pre-wedding aperitivo at Obicà restaurant in Florence the evening before the couple’s big day. This was the perfect way to welcome all of their guests before the wedding and a chance for everyone to meet and mingle before the wedding.
The Colours of Tuscany
The colour palette for this Tuscan treasure included various shades of green paired with bright but soft whites—this perfectly complemented the rustic Tuscan landscape and earthy terracotta tones of the magnificent Villa Mangiacane.
The wedding décor, designed by The Tuscan Wedding, was classic and elegant, filled with olive branches (which over the years has been a symbol of peace, wisdom, glory, fertility, power and purity) and white floral touches. Flowers Living worked their flower magic creating a unique floral centerpiece and round wedding arch that symbolised Mark and Chantal’s endless love. Guests showered the newlyweds in delicate olive leaves as they left the ceremony. Drinks and bites were served al fresco under the dazzling light display by Wedding Music and Lights followed by a delicious dinner and dancing. Magnifico!
