RUSTIC LUXE BRIDE’S DIARY: THE HAIR AND MAKEUP
Well another busy month has flown by and there is no escaping that we are now on the 8 week countdown – eeek! As I write this I am looking forward to my hen party this weekend – which by the time you read this I will have been on – eek! After attending quite a few fabulous hens over the years it feels so odd that this one is actually mine! – I can’t wait to see what my sister and bridesmaids have in store and am going to revel in three whole days with my best girls!
Over the past month lots more wedmin tasks have been ticked off the list, we have chosen our menu, our wines, and our cake flavours – that was a very fun afternoon with Cake Maison indeed! We have also chosen our readings, purchased our wedding rings and even had a shuffle around the kitchen to our first dance – the less said about that the better :)
I also attended my first dress fitting which was lots of fun! I haven’t said much so far about my dress and I am going to keep it that way I am afraid, as I want to keep it a total secret but I will say that my dress is from the fabulous Blackburn Bridal Couture a gorgeous boutique in Blackheath and I LOVE it! My dress shopping experience was actually quite short; I visited three boutiques and probably tried on around 15 dresses in total. Blackburn Bridal was the second boutique I visited and where I experienced my ‘it’s the one moment!’ I didn’t think I was going to feel that at all as I actually found the experience a little overwhelming and up until that moment I had felt like I was playing dress up but the moment ‘the dress’ was slipped over my head I whispered to Hannah the stylist that this was the one.
The staff at Blackburn are the nicest most knowledgeable team and Russell the owner had actually picked my dress out for me following a chat about my dress likes and dislikes. Last month (almost a year to the day of having first purchased the dress) I got to try it on again. I was very nervous – would I still love it as much? Was it definitely the one?! I needn’t have worried – I loved it just as much as I had, and now I am willing the days away till I get to wear it.
This month I also attended my bridal hair and makeup trial. Hair and makeup is such a personal thing and for me it is important that I look like myself on the day (just hopefully the best version of) and although I love everything and anything to do with make-up I know that I will be far too excited on the day to do my own. I have known Victoria from Victoria Fergusson for a few years now so shortly after setting the date I got in touch to see if she was free.
A few weeks ago on a lovely sunny afternoon my sister, best friend and I travelled to Victoria’s beautiful studio to carry out my trial. Victoria is quite simply the loveliest lady, with a calming nature that puts you at ease as soon as you meet her. Whilst sipping on tea and eating home made scones (delish) Victoria and I looked through my Pinterest boards and discussed the look I wanted to achieve on the day. Again I don’t want to give too much away but these are some inspiration pics that made their way onto my Pinterest.
Victoria did an AMAZING job, I don’t love my fine flyaway hair but Victoria worked wonders and I feel like my look all came together just as I had envisioned and hoped it would! As well as being a hair and make-up artist Victoria is a hugely talented accessories designer and I am very lucky to be wearing some pieces from her new Goddess Collection so I spent lots of time trying on various headpieces and accessories choosing the perfect accompaniments to my dress – this was hard as each and every piece is so beautiful! I know that Victoria will be the most calming influence on the morning of the wedding and now we have mastered the look I feel ready to walk down the aisle and become a Mrs!!
Next month we are going to shake things up and Chris is going to update you on wedding planning his end, including a shopping trip with the boys!
