Scotland’s Wildly Romantic Ardanaiseig

Samantha and Thomas of Bowtie and Belle Photography are on the blog today with their romantic stay at Ardanaiseig, Scotland. Here they are to tell you all about it and of course some amazing images too! “Described as one of Scotland’s most widely romantic hotels, the Ardanaiseig (pronounced ar-den-ass-ay) doesn’t fail to deliver. The approach to the hotel defines your visit, a secluded destination down winding roads bordering the magnificent Loch Awe. Arriving on a beautifully crisp October afternoon, we were greeted by the staff and given a tour of the venue, offered wellington boots and a licence to explore which we didn’t hesitate to take!

The hotel itself, a 16 bedroom Grade 2 listed house, lies in magnificent grounds of 120 acres. You can set off with a map for a gentle stroll through luscious woodlands, borrow bikes to go further afield or explore the private beach and dock from where you can a take a boat to nearby castle ruins or the hotel’s very own private island.

If you choose to hold your wedding on the banks of Loch Awe you can hold your ceremony in perfect seclusion within an amphitheatre with simply jaw-dropping panoramic views, filled with rolling countryside, spectacular mountains and scenic islands.

We set off to explore the beautiful grounds, including the stunning boathouse honeymoon suite, and returned to the warmth of the 19th century house ready to enjoy the delights of an afternoon tea. Relaxing in the antique filled bar with far reaching views, you couldn’t be further from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The hotel provides the perfect atmosphere to truly relax and get away from it all, although you still get wifi!

The rooms are full of character, with large and extremely comfortable beds and marvellous views of the Loch, stretching as far as the eye can see. Dinner is fine dining at its best, with guests taken to the lounge for pre-dinner drinks and nibbles before an exquisite meal by candlelight prepared by a very talented in-house chef with a daily changing menu.

You can see why the Ardanaiseig is described as an elegant wedding venue, winner of the Good Hotel Guide’s Editors Choice award for 2017 in both the Romantic Hotel and Country House Hotel. If you want to get away from it all, for a romantic break or a uniquely beautiful wedding – we can thoroughly recommend the Ardanaiseig Hotel (and we’d love to return to take the photos!)”
