2016 has arrived in style and I’m hoping it has got off to a good start for you lovely lot?! The festivities are over but that doesn’t mean to say we should have the January blues. That being said, that is exactly what I have taken for my inspiration today. One of the 2016 Pantone colours of the year is Serenity, a calming and beautiful periwinkle blue. Wintry enough for an early year wedding, but can equally flow nicely into spring and used in touches throughout the year. Plus you’ve got your ‘something blue’ nailed with this colour inspo!

Used sparingly with elegant floral or tableware touches or going bold in your fashion choice, it’s a stunning colour palette that pairs beautifully with golds or creams or equally blushes and pale pinks, exactly like Pantones other colour of the year – rose quartz. If you want to liven it up, combine with coral.

I love the use of blue’s in soft fabrics; brought into tablecloths, napkins, ribbons and bridesmaids dresses. It’s a soft colour and works well with soft fabrics. Similarly it works well on stationery, particularly with a watercolour effect and calligraphy, reflecting the calming and flowing feel of the colour and the name itself – serenity. If you want to take it up a notch – bring it into the florals, wedding dress and accessories and perhaps even your food and drink. Blue macarons and cocktails anyone?
