With all the pretty that’s readily available in today’s wedding industry, sometimes it’s nice to see a more pared back, simplistic approach to wedding styling. And that’s exactly what today’s Shoreditch Style shoot shows – how to mix the glitz with the grit.
Shoreditch is the perfect setting for this unique take on bridal styling – the juxtaposition between the frills and froth of the dresses and the edgy urban background almost transports you to the streets of New York City. Did someone say Carrie Bradshaw?!
We wanted to create a photo shoot that represented our brides: graceful, stylish and creative. Our model oozes style in her bridal dress by Faith Caton-Barber. The muted and pastel tones of her look against the bright colours of the urban setting accentuate her elegance and fierceness.
We chose to set the scene in Shoreditch, with it’s vivid and colourful street art, to represent the creative and fun side our brides have. It was a great fun day, a perfect mix of fashion and inspiration. It was like playing Carrie Bradshaw for a day, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to do that?
The inspiration for the second look came from ‘The Dress’ – a gorgeous gown that deserves an outing at a premiere, or even as your wedding dress if you are wanting to wear it as ‘Your Something Blue’.
The theme for this shoot was “Modern Princess”, inspired by the film Enchanted where the Princess gets brought into real life from her cartoon existence and into an urban setting. The film itself was set in NYC so to set the scene in London we ventured to Shoreditch where graffiti walls abound and where the cool kids and fashionistas hang out.
Our model played Princess for the day and had lots of fun despite the cold February morning….well it’s not every day you walk the streets of London with a ball gown and a tiara on, let’s face it!
