blush pink bridal bouquet

It’s no secret I’m a fan of South African weddings, so I couldn’t let this week go by without featuring at least one.  South Africa boasts not just beautiful landscapes, historic yet contemporary venues and HEAPS of style, but some of the very best photographers in the world.  It was a tough job picking which wedding to share today, but this utterly romantic celebration from Louise Vorster Photography won out. With a powder pink palette and sophisticated style Chané & Johan’s wedding is completely perfect, reflecting their individual styles and complimenting one another beautifully.  I completely adore her Pronovias fishtail gown, so classic and elegant and matched with her bridesmaids in soft blush pink and the prettiest bouquets.  The reception styling is also totally divine, with gorgeous stationery adding just the right amount of detail.

Chané’s Story –

We owe how we met to our brothers who were school friends. One morning in 2010 I dropped off my brother at Johan and his brother’s house. Johan was washing his car outside the house and our eyes met as he waved. I was all giddy inside and could not wait to go fetch my brother later that afternoon. Soon after we arranged our first date and ever since that first date we have been inseparable.  In June 2012 we went on an island holiday to Mauritius. On our second night I came out of the shower, and on my bed was a dress laid out with a pair of cute sandals. He told me to get dressed and we went for a walk on the beach. With the sun setting over the turquoise water, he went on one knee and proposed!!!!!!!! And I said YES!!!

I was still studying at the time and Johan was only working for a year so we decided to have the wedding in March 2014, but as soon as we arrived back in South Africa my soon to be mother in-law waited for us with a stack of bridal magazines!  I am a girly girl loving everything soft, pink, blush and romantic, and Johan is quite a sophisticated business man so initially it was difficult to find a style that would suite us both. We decided on a sophisticated romantic wedding day. Everything was soft and romantic, but in a sophisticated way. The colours for our wedding were blush pink, white, ivory and gold. The wedding venue, Red Ivory Lodge suited the theme very well.

It was very important for me to stay true to myself on our wedding day. I wanted to take Johan’s breath away, but at the same time, I wanted him to see me as me. I decided on a lace Pronovias wedding dress which was soft and elegant, blush pink Benjamin Adams shoes, a sophisticated updo and elegant pearl jewellery.  Our wedding was everything we dreamt of and truly the best day of our lives. It was a perfect way to start our journey in the company of friends and family. We are so blessed that they could have witnessed our true love story.  We promised each other that we would find the time during our wedding reception to sneak away to a quiet place just to take it all in. We went outside and spent about 15 minutes in each other’s arms trying to great an everlasting memory.

Advice for other brides

It is so easy to get lost or lose yourself in all the planning, make-up, dress choices. Constantly remind yourself of who you are and what you want. Stay true to your personality and your style.
