A Magnificent Spanish Villa Wedding
Life is filled with trials and tribulations, and as a couple, these challenges are not there to reveal our weaknesses, but to help us discover our inner strengths. In this magnificent lockdown Spanish villa wedding, Dayana and Ikler demonstrated that COVID-19 could not obstruct the ceremony of their dreams for long.
Initially, this loved-up young couple decided to postpone their wedding until a period that was post-lockdown, but after a while they found that rather than waiting endlessly for a shift in the regulations, they could immortalise their wedding day by making something special out of the circumstances.
So, Dayana and Ilker, their planners at Marbella Wedding and numerous other talented suppliers created a mini wedding that may have even surpassed the beauty of their original plans.
Dayana and Ilker chose the Villa Lámpara en la Colina, located in the Benahavís area, as the location for their lockdown wedding. It’s easy to see why this was their venue of choice—they rented the villa for a full weekend, which gave them ample time to enjoy this private space, the garden and the pool. In fact, this villa has always been known for attracting Hollywood royalty (it was even previously owned by the Hitchcock film star, Madeleine Carroll).
With its rustic air, over 7,000 square meters of gardens with views of the Mediterranean, and the privacy of it all, this villa made for a breathtaking wedding location, regardless of lockdown.
The couple dressed with style and elegance, but since they were the only ones in attendance at their ceremony, they made sure that they were comfortable, too. Dayana had two dresses, with the one she wore for the ceremony being chic and simple, while her sensational evening dress was studded with dramatic crystals.
The groom decided he wanted to keep his jacket off for the ceremony so he would feel more comfortable, but then he popped his jacket back on just after the ceremony so he could dress up a little.
Since the couple’s family and friends couldn’t be present on the day, an essential requirement was that every moment was recorded, so it could be shared with their loved ones later on.
After a chat with Antonio from Studio de Fleurs, the talented collaborator for this occasion, the team decided to opt for an autumn theme for this styled shoot.
There are several potential colour palettes that the couple could choose for their fall wedding. These include a number of warm tones, blushes and soft nudes. A fall wedding should embrace all of these, and allow these gorgeous, stylish hues to feature in the occasion.
Naturally, the characteristic style of the villa was taken into account when deciding upon this colour scheme. The natural colours of the garden and the villa’s interior decoration were assessed, and the predominant colours of burnt oranges, deep reds, autumn leaves, deep green and earthy hues were picked out.
For this wedding, bright, bold and autumnal colours like green, orange, copper and terracotta were seen to be the perfect fusion of a romantic vibe that fitted beautifully with the season. These vibrant details were designed to highlight the personality of the couple, and create an artful, sentimental ceremony. One wonderful example of the combination of colour and romance is the use of bright red thread to tie together the couple’s little fingers during the ceremony.
- The florist and stylist, Studio de Fleurs, created a detailed colour palette and mood board for the decorations and flowers; it was this eye for detail that made the occasion so seamless.
- Use the characteristics of the venue to your advantage. The natural colours of the garden and the original interior decoration made wonderful starting points for this wedding.
- The generous garden was used as an extra bit of space for the day. The addition of velvet sofas and small gold tables helped the couple to really make the most of these stunning grounds.
