Spring Blooms in North Vancouver
The Story: How do you bring Spring indoors? This ceremony was styled like a scene from a Spring garden with a lush floral arch and whimsical asymmetrical flowers sprouting down the aisle. This was followed by a modern standing cocktail reception. A wallet-friendly bar set up encourages guests to mingle over specialty cocktails and delicious small bites.
The Location: This shoot took place in Vancouver’s Pipe Shop at the Shipyards. Originally built in the 1940s, the Pipe Shop commemorates the thousands of men and women who worked in the area’s shipyard over the years. This spectacular restored heritage building is a gorgeous industrial chic event space perfect for modern couples looking for a wedding venue.
The Vibe: A vibrant celebration of Spring. Modern, bright and fresh, the perfect inspiration for fun and nature-loving couples looking for a fresh way to celebrate their love in style.
The Details: Pink was the feature colour for this shoot but the concept was to use it in an out of the box way mixing light pink hues in the wedding gown and cake with vivid pinks in the floral design. This added texture and dimension. The colour palette for the floral design was citrus shades focusing mainly on flowers that bloom in Spring like tulips, daffodils, ranunculus, poppies, fritillaria, violas and seasonal foliage. The floral arch and cake were both highlights. Delicate layered violas were used to create a minimal three-dimensional design for the cake. The clear ghost chairs made sure the floral elements took centre stage. Blown up fabric menus for both food and beverage were used as a floating and draped feature at the reception.
Tips & Highlights:
- Don’t be afraid of doing something different with colour. Although pink is an obviously beautiful choice, don’t feel like you have to stick to more traditional blush hues.
- Talk to your vendors about how you can tie your wedding details together for a cohesive look. We used pink as our feature colour and although it was used with varying shades it pulled the theme together while being dynamic and fun!
- Different heights were used to create a contemporary look for the standing reception. The food and beverage menus floated above the bar and the team incorporated varying sized florals, food items and beverage glasses.
