Spring Garden Wedding at The Maxwell House

The Story: This gorgeous ceremony took its inspiration from all-things natural. The delicate, effortless beauty of Spring provided the inspiration from which the planning and décor evolved. With a sorbet inspired palette of blush, mints, lemon and orange, this Spring wedding was all about classic and sweet romance.

The Location: The Maxwell House is an historic landmark event space located in the heart of Downtown Old-Town Pasadena, California. Built in 1929 on the grounds of the Vista del Arroyo Hotel in the elegant and timeless Mediterranean Italianate style, The Maxwell House is full of unique and historic charm.

The Vibe:  A flower-filled secret garden boutique-style wedding swimming in pretty pastels. A modern yet loved-up look. The ceremony was followed by a delectable and vibrant alfresco lunch on the terrace basking in the glorious Spring. Modern touches were added through the tablescape, with its ghost chairs and elegant glass beaded charger plates. Delicate colours and cosy lounge furniture, including a stunning blush velvet lawn loveseat, created an undeniable sense of romance.

The Details: Spring time also provided the scent inspiration for the ceremony. This was achieved through some statement flowers from Haus353, set against the venue’s stunning secret garden. The gorgeous floral arrangements simply enhanced the already extraordinary natural landscaping which was in full bloom. The two tiered wedding cake was delicately decorated with blooms that mirrored the floral arrangements.

  • A season is about far more than the weather. You can use a seasonal concept to shape your colour palette, décor and even your wedding scent.
  • Choose items that will bring something unique to the day like the velvet lounge set up.
  • Most couples choose to have a wedding photographer present on their big day. But why not opt for something a little different and have a live wedding painter, like Alicia Anne, capture your wedding on a canvas – perfect for a Spring garden wedding!
