styled shoot: L is for Love
I’m so proud to share this shoot with you this afternoon! In early Spring last year, I was approached by Bea and Jude of EFC Photography to style a shoot at the beautiful Cams Hall, Hampshire. With a copy of the latest Vogue cover in hand, they explained the look they were after; fun, flirty and colourful with a retro twist. They wanted hot pink and turquoise, a contemporary feel and lots of inspirational details that could easily be recreated by you. Armed with this information, I set about designing this shoot and involving a hot team of suppliers who I knew could smash the brief!
It’s taken a little while to get this shoot onto b.loved, first being published in Wedding Magazine, and then featured on Love My Dress! But this heart-filled shoot with playful pops of colour and delicious details is just perfect for our Valentine’s themed week and a cute way to celebrate my second wedding anniversary today!
The light filled interiors and stunning architecture of Cams Halls provided the perfect canvas for the shoot. We made the most of the beautiful entrances and archways which all make perfect backdrops for bridal portraits. Wearing Stewart Parvin’s aptly named ‘Love is All That Matters’ Jade shone, with colourful accessories by Victoria Millésime adding fun pops of coral to her outfit, striking makeup by Gemma Sutton finished with cute pigtails, and that bright pink pout adding a touch of Brigitte Bardot to her style. Dan wore a retro-styled suit by Room Ten and colour added with a coral tie and bold rose boutonnière.
For our second look, Angelina wore Tobi Hannah’s tea-length Tutu Ballarine, it’s simple corset and tulle skirt adding just the right amount of playfulness, completed with a retro birdcage veil from Victoria Millésime. Along with Bex from Blush Floral Design, I created a sweet place setting compete. We filled vases and aqua bottles with retro candy before adding a feast of spring blooms, spray roses, peonies, tulips and David Austin roses. I added love-heart filled bags of love as cute take-away favours, and bottle of pink lemonade. Tying the theme together, the beautifully designed stationery by Louise Richardson combined our catch phrase ‘L is for Love’ with pink and aqua hearts, and a cute monogram for our couple which was replicated as a bespoke cake topper by Miss Cake.
The centre-piece of the incredibly colourful and treat-tastic dessert table created by Tempting Cake was an ombre butter cream iced cake fading from pale pink to hot fuschia, finishing with a contrasting tier of aqua and resting on a floral cake stand. With love heart cookies, heart-shaped marshmallows, pink popcorn, jelly bean cake pops and an amazing heart-shaped jelly bean wreath the whole table was laden with romantic candy-filled dreams! For this look, Jade wore the short Nymph by Jenny Packham, with beautiful tulle shoulder details, this look was soft and romantic, set within a backdrop of floating pink and red roses.
The last look is for the rebellious bride! The hot pink Rosales from Tobi Hannah was a cute dress to have fun dressing up with a hot pink bow headpiece and quiffed hairstyle, teamed with a pink hydrangea bouquet playing off the ruffled skirt. Very flirty, and even a little bit naughty! Our equally non-traditional groom ditched the jacket and tie, to go for a more relaxed look with rolled up shirt-sleeves, an aqua bow-tie and dapper waistcoat worn with trendy converse.
I just love this last shot!! What a fun day, and a great team! I hope you will find lots of inspiration from this shoot – remember you don’t have to recreate the whole look just pick your favourite bits to include in your day – like sweet filled vases or love-heart balloons!
A HUGE thank you to the talented team involved.
