styled shoot: not boudoir {and 10% off with Cat Hepple Photography}

A few weeks ago I received an email from wedding and lifestyle photographer Cat Hepple describing a concept for a new style of shoot.  Something romantic, beautiful and sensual.  She was talking about ‘boudoir’, with a difference.  While many women may find strutting around in the sexiest, skimpiest lingerie empowering (if you do, good for you!), there are a lot more of us (like me!) who simply do not possess the body confidence to be so overtly ‘sexy’.  Boudoir is something that intrigues me, while I have seen many shoots that sit uncomfortably with me, there are few photographers who delicately capture true feminine beauty.

Cat says ~

“Typical boudoir just doesn’t float my boat. And my lovely clients often will say they same. They love the idea of being braver than a typical portrait shoot, but boudoir per se is not really them either.  I’ve realised there’s a need for something in between. Something in the middle ground. So for months I’ve been working behind the scenes on developing my kind of ” not boudoir” style shoot. I lovingly call  it ” not boudoir” because that’s often how my clients refer to what they’d like. And that always makes me giggle.  I wanted to create something softer, something more subtle. I wanted it to be more about what’s hinted at rather than what’s on show. To be about revealing femininity and not just sexuality. Not being overt, but being demure, and yet still sexy and glamorous”

And today, I am delighted to share with you the beautiful images from the shoot.  A boudoir shoot for women just like you and me.

A few words from model, Emily

“When Cat asked me to model for her boudoir shoot my thoughts were of the normal red and black underwear posing and pouting.  But when Cat presented me with the array of beautiful, elegant pieces I’d be wearing I knew it would be of another kind.  The lovely Victoria Farr worked her magic with beautiful make up and hair leaving me with a soft natural look.  Cat made me feel at complete ease, giving me positive feedback throughout and Victoria was on stand by for any touch ups that were needed.  I felt truly amazing,elegant and sophisticated and enjoyed every minute!”

What are your thoughts on boudoir? Are you more sexy siren, or understated muse?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I’m also delighted that Cat is offering a 10% discount for any booking made in May for a ‘not boudoir’ shoot, just quote b.loved when making your booking.
