styled shoot: under the willow tree
I’m really thrilled to share this afternoon’s shoot, not only is it pretty and lovely but it’s also an important reminder. This one’s not about couples, or marriage, but it is most certainly about love! The girls who’ve been with you through thick and thin, whether as lifelong friends or newer but just as important ones, may get a little forgotten in the excitement and busy-ness of wedding planning. You’re all starting new lives with new families, and even new friends, so before you embark on this new and exciting chapter why not capture your friendship and memories first with a shoot? Whether as a treat for your best friends, your bridesmaids or even part of your hen party (a pamper session followed by photo shoot sounds good to me!) it’s a really lovely way to celebrate your friendship! If you need any more convincing, I have a gorgeous example to share with you this afternoon from Alexa, of Little Alexa Photography!
Set in the shade of an old willow tree, this shoot tells the story of a carefree group of friends with an awesome sense of style. Dressed in soft and pretty summery neutrals, with dappled light streaming through the trees the girls enjoy a relaxed picnic in the afternoon sun.
Photographer Alexashares the story ~
This gorgeous group of girls met while working part-time as waitresses. When they’re not working they all live busy lives as full time students, so being co-workers made them best friends. This year many of them are graduating, moving on and into the next chapter of their lives with new jobs, homes and relationships. Kristin contacted me to do these photos, and once I heard the story I knew exactly what kind of shoot it should be… just the six girls hanging out as friends. We wanted to truly and genuinely capture the nostalgic memories and friendships the girls have created over the years, and leave them with something to take with them as they each move forward.
