supplier spotlight: HT Headwear
Aaah, happy Friday beloved readers! Despite quickly losing that holiday feeling, this week’s been a good one with the sun shining and lots of exciting news and requests heading my way (promise I’ll share soon!)
And to round off what’s been a lovely week, today I’m delighted to be featuring one of my favourite weddingy things – bridal accessories! The finishing piece to any brides outfit, whether a full on veil, or simple headpiece, accessories are a really fun way to tie your whole look together. When visiting wedding fairs and shows, you’ll often catch me lingering at accessories stands, captivated by the sparkles and detail of the most exquisite pieces on offer from some of the UK’s top bridal designers.
One such designer is Helena Talbot, of London-based HT Headwear, short-listed in the Wedding Industry Awards 2012, and regularly featured in the best UK wedding magazines and blogs. Having originally trained as a fabric designer, her stunning and unique pieces combine fabrics, feathers, diamanté, pearls, crystals and vintage pieces sourced from British suppliers, and each piece is made with outstanding attention to detail. HT Headwear started with commissions for bespoke cocktail hats for a local boutique, before Helena got engaged herself and realised her hobby could become so much more!
“Whilst planning my wedding in 2008 I couldn’t find anything I liked within my price range so decided to make everything myself. I made my own headpiece, bridesmaids, flower girl and even my Mum’s headwear. This also extended to me designing our stationary, I did the order of service books, menus and table plan. I loved the whole thing, great fun!!”
The HT Headwear signature style is delicate and feminine, creating pieces in a range of designs, both pre-made and custom designed, from contemporary to vintage-inspired and everything between, whilst managing to be different, unique and affordable. Each design is customizable, available in a range of colours and fabrics to suit your theme, as well as colour-matching headbands to your hair colour to ensure the band remains ‘hidden’ in the hair. You can choose to have your design made as a headband or comb, giving you ultimate flexibility, as well as the option of a detachable birdcage veil to give you a choice of different looks throughout your day. Finding inspiration everywhere and in everything, Helena loves being a part of her clients special day.
“The wedding industry is one of the happiest industries to be in. As suppliers we are trusted by brides to be part of one of the most exciting days of their lives. Every appointment is full of laughter and the buzz of excitement! Great fun – I love my job!”
What trends and themes do you see emerging for 2012?
I think vintage inspired weddings will still be big. For headpieces, florals and statement pieces seem to be here to stay!
If you could give future brides one piece of advice, what would it be?
Buy your dress first and then look for accessories.
