I’m just a little excited this morning, as tonight is the Wedding Ideas Magazine Awards, which I am attending along with some of my lovely wedding industry colleagues.  The nominees have all been chosen by real brides and readers of Wedding Ideas, with the final winners chosen by an impressive panel of wedding pro’s.  I will be glamming it up with my favourite art deco accessories, and a beautiful headpiece from Tantrums & Tiara’s.  Follow me on twitter for updates throughout the evening, and to find out first who the winners are!

Speaking of award winners, today I’d like to say hello to Jenny Budzynski from Miss Ingredient Cake Company, winner of the Regional Award for Wedding Cake Design at the Wedding Industry Awards 2012.  Based in Poole, Dorset, Miss Ingredient specialises in modern bespoke wedding cakes, individually made to the exacting specifications of the Bride and Groom, creating stunning and unique centrepieces, with good quality, fresh ingredients and great flavour.

Jenny trained in London and over the past 25 years has been creating cakes for every occasion, with her focus gradually shifting to the world of weddings.  Now, Miss Ingredient almost exclusively designs and creates cakes for weddings.  Jenny loves to meet brides-to-be and guide them through the process of planning their cake from size, style and of course, taste! She hand-decorates every cake in icing and sugar work, and loves to experiment in the kitchen with new and interesting flavours and combinations to keep her cakes fresh and exciting.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I never stop looking, books and Internet, magazines and journals. I love to go on courses and workshops; I attend trade exhibitions as an exhibitor and a visitor. I love the circle of other wedding suppliers that I work with regularly and I’m always looking at the things that they make and have been asked to make in the future. I listen and look and never believe that the world will ever tire of cake or that I know everything there is to know. I love what I do and find inspiration everywhere as long as I’m not too busy to look!

What trends and themes do you see emerging for 2012?

In wedding cake world I think that tradition is strong but keeping those traditions modern, clean and bright is important. Guiding and leading clients towards this but adhering to their wishes is important

What advice or tips would you give to brides about their wedding cake? 

I have buckets of advice ranging  from inspiration guidance, portion advice, sometimes even where and how to begin deciding your style of cake. I advise on the cake size in proportion to the room and setting, flavour combinations and fitting the cake into a menu, where, when and how to cut the cake and how to store the leftover cake after the event.
