The Best of Both Worlds: Hannah & David

What really stood out to us about Hannah and David’s ceremony was the way in which they made no compromises. They did not feel as though the vision that they had for their day’s aesthetic needed to be re-modelled or sacrificed in order to fit with what is typically expected. We’ve all browsed through stock photos of weddings, and it’s all too easy to let that restrict our idea of what we can create for our own day.

Most occasions have to choose ‘either / or’ between getting their dog involved on the day, or opting for a classic, ornate vintage style. Hannah and David, however, chose both. And the end result was stunning.

This fashionable duo pulled off a beautiful ceremony, fusing subtle whimsical touches with an understated elegance that rivalled any high-end designer wedding. In every detail, from the intricately laced bodice of the dress to the groom’s slightly unconventional choice of a dark brown suit, Hannah and David created an exceptionally stylish occasion with an aesthetic that was indisputably their own.

This ceremony was styled as a classically elegant affair, with a grand yet simple aesthetic. The loved-up couple hosted an intimate ceremony that was modern and romantic, with a hint of whimsy (inspired by Hannah’s previous job at Disney).

Hannah now works in the wedding industry and used her insider connections to source unique objects and décor additions. This preference for the unusual is one of the reasons why the couple chose a concert venue for their ceremony (another reason is that the acoustics made the band sound sensational).

Hannah and David’s glamorous day took place during the peak of autumn, set amidst gleaming foliage and surrounded by friends and their super-suave pup. The day included an unforgettable reception bash, with all the components of a stylishly unconventional party. The couple enlisted the help of a variety of external vendors, the highlights of which included a live band, a coffee truck and a big pile of three types of donuts (instead of a traditional cake).

In order to incorporate the full range of majestic colours that autumn provides, the occasion’s colour palette was vibrant and varied. The bold-yet-classic décor was all about traditional fall hues and textures.

For Hannah, in the design of the ceremony, “I wanted to be unique but also true to my sense of style. David went along with it like a champ.”

The day’s florals were an extremely elegant affair. Alongside highly traditional soft pink roses, the florist created a rich bouquet of flowers that progressed from bright white to deep russet, which were then intricately framed by green foliage.

In a rather bold decision, Hannah and David kept their flowers as a complete mystery until the day itself. In fact, they told the florist, Create a Scene Events, to surprise them.

  • This ceremony had a brilliantly spontaneous feel, and one of Hannah’s favourite parts of the day was when David surprised her with a rendition of Bryan McKnight’s “Back at One.”
  • If you’re considering how best to direct your budget, this wedding is a real testament to treating yourself and spending a bit more on these beautiful one-of-a-kind details.
  • Get the dogs involved! Their presence makes your day unique, and brings a sweet insight into your character. Plus, it makes a wonderful homage to your new little family unit.
