A Modern Spanish B&W Wedding at Els Calderers

The Story: Bursting with character, Els Calderers is a charming location for a Spanish styled wedding with an edge. This Mallorcan black and white wedding is steeped in tradition and oozes Mediteranean vibes whilst embracing stylish contemporary touches.

The Location: This inspiration shoot takes place in the beautiful 13th century manor house. The building is arranged around a central courtyard called La Miranda and it is surrounded by a large forest called La Era making it a perfect hidden getaway. This historic estate is packed full of tradition and culture.

The Vibe: An elegant and modern celebration with a nod to the past. Two tablescapes were used for the festivities – one for the day time celebration and the second for an evening fiesta. Unusual shapes and textures created a contemporary feel in an otherwise traditional setting. Black, ivory and neutral tones were used for a sophisticated modish vibe. The hexagonal wooden altar adds an undeniably modern feel.

The Details: The day tablescape epitomised simple yet on-trend elegance. Florals included white roses, feathery white wheat and greenery. Transparent glassware added sophistication and shine. Individual name cards with a single crisp leaf sat elegantly on each place setting. For the evening tablescape, black candles and marbled plates were used to add moody feels. The bride’s dress was tasteful and refined featuring a backless halter-neck adorned with a chic bow. Her bouquet used different textures and sizes to create a fluffy cloud like design. The altar was adored with the same flowers for a sense of harmony.  The groom wore classic black tie with a flashy stripe down the trouser leg and on the lapel for a hint of swagger.

  • When going for an elegant statement remember the words of Coco Chanel, “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance”.
  • Try to use eco-friendly materials whenever possible. This is responsible and appreciated by vendors, suppliers, guests and the planet!
  • When planning a Mediterranean-inspired look, remember to try and highlight key elements of your location so these shine through at all times.
