Sunshine and David’s Rustic Botanical Wedding in Berkeley
We cannot help but adore this nature-inspired wedding in Berkeley. From the lush flora of the outdoors to the wooden accents of their reception space, Sunshine and David’s big day exudes the mystery of the Californian forests.
Planned by Two Perfect Events and captured by Anna Mae Photo, this wedding is a perfect inspiration for couples seeking a venue with a difference. Scroll down to see an entire gallery of love and botanical goodness!
For the 3 – 4 days leading up to the event, we hand-wrote all our guests’ cards, and we detailed what we loved about them and how much we appreciated their presence in our lives. While writing the cards took way longer than either of us expected, it ended up being one of our favourite aspects of the wedding.
Something was grounding about going through that before the event, and I still go back to read the document where we stored what we said about everyone. The faces on our guests when they opened and read our cards will always stand out to me. It was special to be able to say what everyone meant to us and make that a focus of the day.
The mantelpiece above our sweetheart table contained traditional Chinese wedding characters that we’d commissioned and framed. The character “愛” means to love through your actions and with your heart. On the other hand, the double happiness symbol “囍” called Shuangxi is often displayed at Chinese weddings as it is believed that happiness comes in twos. For us, that indeed runs true!
The colour palette for the wedding was classic white and green. Black was an accent colour. Naturally, we had wood elements from the venue and surrounding trees!
The floral design of our wedding in Berkeley was clean and organic, which was displayed through the bridal bouquet and table centrepieces. We also created a half-circle greenery garland for our ceremony!
