welcome to the b.team | bespoke bridal makeup {ana ospina makeup}

Afternoon lovelies! Are you ready to meet Ana Ospina, our b.team beauty expert?!  Ana and I have worked together on numerous projects and shoots, and I am always amazed how she takes my rather vague brief and creates something magical!  Ana specialises in air-brush make-up application, which is, quite frankly, amazing!  Ana applied our make-up for the b.team shoot, and I can honestly say it looked totally gorgeous while feeling so light and natural!  If you’re still considering your wedding day look, I suggest you try it out (I’m sure Ana will talk about this more on the blog soon!). For now, here’s Ana with the lowdown on how she goes about creating a unique look for each of her lovely brides.

Here’s Ana ~

There are some big changes happening here at b.loved HQ …All very exciting!!!  Hello to all of you lovelies who visit b.loved for your fix of wedding related prettiness! I am honoured to be a part of this new phase of b.loved, and excited that I will be a part of your journey in the lead up to your wedding day!

My name is Ana Ospina and I will be covering all things beauty related on here as part of what is now know as the b.team!  I am a Professional Make-Up Artist who specialises in HD Airbrush Make-Up application for Bridal & TV and I am also a tutor at The London Make-Up School, teaching new and aspiring make-up artists the tricks of the trade….and with over 20 Years in the business I have a few tips and tricks to share that’s for sure!!!  I have beautified endless numbers of brides and it still gives me a buzz to be there to prepare them for what is to be The Biggest Day of their Life!  I Love what I do for a career it is not just a job for me it is my passion. My aim and goal always with my brides is to make them not only look but make them feel their most beautiful. So here is my introductory post on what you can expect from a Professional Bridal Make-Up Artist like me, and how I work with my brides before their wedding so that on their Big Day the results are all that they dreamed about.

“Bespoke Bridal Make-Up” is what brides of today are after. Let’s face it, as a bride to be you wouldn’t buy a traditional wedding dress to wear on the biggest day of your Life, if you are not a traditional wedding dress type of girl would you? And you wouldn’t want all the quirky vintage paraphernalia for your wedding, if you are a bride whose style is more modern and about understated sophistication right? So as every bride is different and their styles, needs and wants can be quite varied, it is safe to say that my role as a Make-Up Artist has evolved and developed into that of a Make-Up Designer, creating a bespoke bridal make-up application that captures the Bride at their most beautiful and fulfils how she would wish to look for her big day.

So where do I start? Well usually my brides would have found me by way of recommendation, though my website or by seeing my work in an editorial or a wedding blog so they have an idea of my level of work. So at initial contact and after discussing my availability for their wedding and a rough idea on how much it will cost to book me, we can then begin with the make-up talk. I start by asking questions, and I mean lots of questions! In fact it is more of a consultation that takes place on the phone much like how I imagine a photographer or cake designer may discuss the wedding in depth too, this is the only clear way of getting the vision the Bbride has for her wedding day, and this is all even before the Bridal Make-Up Trial!

The bride and I will discuss all aspects of the wedding in this initial consultation so that I am made aware of chosen colour schemes, if it is a modern day styled wedding or whether the bride is going for something maybe from a specific era such as the 20’s or 50’s for example. This information along with discussing what type of hairstyle and what accessories will be worn plus taking into account the brides facial features, skin type and colourings will give me all that would be needed to develop a customized look for my brides wedding day. I recommend that before the Bridal Make-Up Trial my clients collect images of all things wedding related that they like and importantly a picture of their wedding dress or a fabric swatch etc and examples of colour options and make-up and hairstyles they like. The easiest and most fun way my brides are getting inspired is, when after consulting with them, I start off a Pinterest Board for them that they can then add to or take away from any images that they like or don’t like. This then becomes their mood board for their wedding and gives us a visual to reference from, when it comes to first meeting on the day of the Bridal Trial and the start of their Bespoke Bridal Make-Up Look.

After a decade-long career in corporate interior design, I took a giant leap of faith, left the security of an office job, and founded B.LOVED in 2011 as a platform for romantic and beautiful wedding inspiration. Thanks to a whole lot of creativity, hard work and passion, my gamble paid off and B.LOVED became one of the leading wedding blogs in the UK.

I'm also a co-founder at The Brand Studio, where I design and curate beautiful photoshoots for wedding and lifestyle brands, as well as running wedding industry community the B.LOVED Hive where I support and nurture wedding pros building industry leading businesses. Yep, I definitely have the best job in the world.
