Our Winners of the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane Stay + Shoot
As part of our amazing giveaway for an overnight stay at the luxurious Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, we included a beautiful engagement session which was captured by the wonderful Helen Warner Photography. Her light and luminous photography style was perfect for this sweet stroll around the lovely parks right by the Sheraton, and so today we get to meet Beth and Rich, the winners of our giveaway, with their darling engagement shoot and here we asked Beth about their trip to London.
Did you do anything special on your trip to London?
We did, we made a ‘weekend’ of it, despite the fact it was a Monday and Tuesday. When we (reluctantly) left the Sheraton Grand on Tuesday morning we walked back through Green Park and made our way down to the South Bank. We’re huge fans of classic movies and there was a matinee screening of North by Northwest on at the BFI, so we got tickets for that and enjoyed lunch and a drink by the river before going to the film. It was a tiny screening room at the BFI with only 30 or so seats and we sat in the front row – the best way to watch a Hitchcock is on the big screen!
How did you enjoy your stay at the Sheraton? What were the highlights?
The Sheraton Grand was an Agatha Christie’s fan’s dream, all beautiful Art Deco grandeur and silver service. The whole trip was so whirlwind that when we checked into the hotel just after our photo shoot with Helen, we only had about half an hour in the suite before heading down to afternoon tea. We didn’t want to leave the suite once we walked in – my ambition in life is now ‘get huge marbled bathroom with wardrobe in’. It is a truly beautiful suite, with all mod cons and plush decor that is just the right side of modern in contrast to the original 1920s features of the rooms, such as the green marble bathroom and an old fireplace in the dining room. We tore ourselves away to go down to the Palm Lounge for a late afternoon tea. It was, with no exaggeration, sublime. The lounge itself is utterly gorgeous, with original brass features, large mirrors and stylish lamps and – obviously – palm trees! The room was romantically lit with jazz playing in the background to make my musician fiance very happy! The food was beautiful – they offer a vegetarian afternoon tea with these lovely little savoury muffins and melt-in-the-mouth scones. The Sheraton’s waiting staff just glide around the room ensuring everyone has everything they need, the experience was immaculate.
Where did your shoot take place? What was special about it?
We went into Green Park for our photos with Helen, where October was settling in and the park was scattered with plenty of orange crunchy leaves. It was lovely to do an outdoors autumnal shoot, as we are getting married late next September and our wedding venue doesn’t have much outdoor space for photos. We got dressed up warm in winter coats and just had fun, and Helen made us feel really at ease despite getting smoochy in the middle of London! We really warmed up to the shoot and there are plenty of pictures of us laughing, we had a lot of fun. We went and played around with a Victorian street light, posing with umbrellas as an ode to our first date, a trip to see Singin’ in the Rain at the theatre back in 2012. We had discovered a mutual appreciation for the film when we first met and Rich was lucky enough to get given tickets to the play and asked me to go – it seemed just a little bit serendipitous. I think it was, because here we are getting married five years later! It was such a magical trip, and we are thrilled with the beautiful photos as a lasting memento. Huge thanks to B.LOVED, the Sheraton Grand, and Helen Warner for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
