WINTER’S CHARM
I am a through-and-through summer girl, I love nothing more than feeling the sun on my skin and a warm breeze ruffling my hair. But every once in a while, winter captures my heart with a crisp sunny day and a generous dusting of snowfall. It’s so romantic, wrapping up warm and trudging through the pure white countryside to find a cosy pub, sit fireside with your love sipping a rich red wine or a spiked hot chocolate.
I’m imagining one of those days as I pour through Shani & Chris’ beautiful snowy engagement shoot from Melissa Beattie.
Back in January I jumped in my car and set out for Cumbria, I was heading to the Lodore Falls Hotel for Chris and Shani’s pre wedding shoot. Lodore Falls is a gorgeous hotel tucked in to the hills that line the shore of the stunning Dewent Water in the UK’s Lake District National Park. With a location like this, I knew it was going to be a great shoot, I was excited about it. However, nothing had prepared me for the weather … snow, and lot’s of it! I totally missed the forecast. Half of me wanted to turn around and run a mile, the other half (the creative, not as sensible half) wanted to carry on … it will be amazing, totally worth getting stranded, go on. I am so thankful I went with my creative instinct, I hope you will agree that it was totally worth it and I didn’t get stuck either!
